“When I’m worried and cannot sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep”
Gratefulness is something that we are so often too busy for. How often do we actually stop and think, “wow, I’m so grateful for this opportunity” “I’m so grateful to have this delicious cup of coffee” It sounds super cheesy, but it can change your attitude in a few minutes if you remember to practise it.
Here’s a quick exercise to change your whole mood. It will take 2 minutes of your day, and leave you feeling so good!
- Get a pen and paper
- Write down five things you’re grateful for.
- Spend one minute focusing on your breath, and visualising those things you just wrote down.
Repeat daily for 1 week. Here’s some tips on what you can write down if you feel you’re writing the same things all the time:
Monday - Gratitude for a romantic relationship
Tuesday - Gratitude for relationship besides romantic
Wednesday - Gratitude about myself
Thursday - Gratitude about things I own
Friday - Gratitude about the world
Saturday - Gratitude about an old friend or teacher that helped you
Sunday - Gratitude about an experience that happened this week
Go for it, what have you got to lose?
